More about the beer:

Allagash Odyssey is a dark wheat beer aged for four months, a portion in oak barrels and the remainder in stainless tanks. The grain bill includes 2-row barley, malted wheat and a generous amount of roasted barley. This deep brown beer boasts an aroma of black treacle and raisin. Candi sugar, a traditional ingredient in some Belgian beer, is added during the boil. The flavor hints at dates, with a mildly roasted finish imparted by aging in both medium and heavy toasted American oak barrels. The finish is dry, punctuated by vanilla.

Our interpretation of a Belgian style quad, Four Ale is reddish brown in color and has flavors of raisin, candied fruit, and plum. We brew this beer with four malts (Caramel, Munich, Carapils, and 2-row), four sugars (Cane Sugar, Date Sugar, Belgian Dark Rock Candi, and Molasses), four hop varieties (Perle, Hallertau, Tettnang and Czech Saaz) and undergoes four fermentations, using four different yeast strains. The result of this elaborate brewing process is a complexity of flavor, aroma and mouth feel we believe is truly worth savoring.

Allagash Confluence is a strong golden ale, utilizing a mixed fermentation and dry hopping techniques inspired by a Belgian classic. Confluence is brewed using a blend of imported and domestic Pilsner malt, as well as a small portion of caramel malt, resulting in a complex malty profile.
Confluence is fermented using both our house yeast strain and our proprietary Brettanomyces yeast strain. This layered fermentation creates a unique blend of fruit and spice flavors along with an incredibly silky mouthfeel.
After fermentation, Confluence undergoes a lengthy aging process in stainless steel that allows the complex flavors to fully develop. Just prior to bottling, it is dry hopped with Glacier hops, providing a pleasant fruity aroma.

We brew Fluxus every year to commemorate the anniversary of our first beer sold in July 1995. The name Fluxus is Latin for continuous change and every year, Fluxus is brewed with a different recipe. This year’s Fluxus is a Strong Golden Ale brewed with a simple malt bill of Pilsner malt and a large portion of local maple syrup added to the kettle. After fermentation with a Belgian-style yeast strain it is dry hopped with two experimental hops, 06277 and 06297. The beer exhibits aromas of strawberry, pineapple and lime. The finish is balanced with a dry malty character.
Since 2007, $1 from every bottle sold of Allagash Tribute Series Fluxus beer has been donated to a scholarship fund for pediatric nurses in the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at the Maine Medical Center. We love living and working in Maine, and our Tribute Series beers are one way we give back to groups and organizations in our home state that make a positive impact in our greater neighborhood.

First brewed back in 2004, Curieux was our first foray into barrel aging. To make Curieux, we take our Tripel and let it age in bourbon barrels for six-to-eight weeks. Once that time is up, we take the beer out of our cold cellars and blend it back with a portion of fresh Tripel. The resulting rich, golden ale features smooth notes of coconut, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon.

Two yeast strains were used to create this unique Belgian-style ale. The first, a Saison yeast, establishes the flavor foundations of a classic Belgian-style ale. The second, our house strain of Brettanomyces yeast, contributes myriad flavors including pear, apricot, graham cracker, and bread crust. A portion of Interlude is aged in red wine barrels, which imparts a distinctive vinous, plum character and a dry, almost tannic, finish.

Our interpretation of a Belgian-style wheat beer is brewed with oats, malted wheat, and unmalted raw wheat for a hazy, “white” appearance. Spiced with our own special blend of coriander and Curaçao orange peel, White upholds the Belgian tradition of beers that are both complex and refreshing.
Though it’s brewed in Maine, the recipe sticks to its Belgian roots. We’ve worked hard to make sure that the White in your hand tastes the same as it did back in 1995, when Rob Tod brewed the first batch.
