The fine people from the F.E.W. Distillery in Evanston invited us down to be a part of their barrel program. General Manager Nick Head, Beer Ambassador Collin Kruger, and Owner Humberto Martinez Jr recap their experience below.

The opportunity to visit the F.E.W. Distillery in Evanston was a great experience. O'Toole's as a brand strives to support local business and F.E.W intends to keep it that way. The afternoon started with educational sessions centered around their process for making Bourbon Whiskey, Rye and Gin. Informative and interesting,  F.E.W. stands for Francis Elizabeth Willard who was head of Evanston's Woman's Christian Temperance Union. Note the initials. Evanston was the birthplace of prohibition, and since the owners had previously operated a bar in Evanston, it was a no-brainer for O'Toole's Pub Group to get involved with the program. Following the education session, we sampled their core brands consisting of Bourbon Whiskey, Rye Whiskey, and Gin. At the barrel house, we learned about their bottling line, cellared whiskeys and the entire barrel program. Originally we were only going to do a Bourbon Whiskey but after sampling out 4 different barrel's and settling on the one we enjoyed, Barrel #16-1050 we ultimately decided we wanted to have a Rye as well. One of the biggest tasting notes for our Bourbon Whiskey (#16-1050) and Rye Whiskey (#16-0722) truly drink like their counterpart. The Bourbon Whiskey more as a Rye Whiskey and The Rye Whiskey more as a Bourbon Whiskey. It was a great experience and we highly recommend making the trip to Evanston to check out the F.E.W. Distillery.

Enjoy one of our F.E.W. craft cocktails at any of our locations in June.

The wait is finally over; we can all plan our week out to the Chicago Blackhawks schedule!

Starting with a Sunday Funday! Puck drops at 2PM so plan your day drinking accordingly!

A lot of Chicagoans are starting to get nervous about the playoffs- this is what I have come across.

You'll hear stories regarding the Ducks being a super deep team for this playoff run. The pressure is ramped up as a result of being a step from the Stanley Cup Finals. Playeres are getting more tired as their season, which started in October, moves into the middle of May. And the fear of making a mistake is greatly escalated. The Hawks have a plethora of players, who can handle that, as this will be the first conference final for only Andrew Desjardins, Teuvo Teravainen and David Rundblad. This is the first ever conference final appearance for all but four Ducks. (HA!) This is not the Blackhawks first debut, fear not Chicago - They have this handled! Que Chelsea Dagger!!!

Something for everyone to play!

Timothy O’Toole’s Annual Golf Outing was successful in raising $2650.00 for Brian Worley’s ALS Fund this past Sunday. Brian was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig ’s disease, this past April. This disease quickly stole Brian’s ability to walk and recently confined him to a wheelchair.

"Brian is an officer on the Terre Haute Police Department and former handler of two narcotic K9's and an active volunteer at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Center Point, Indiana." He is currently working as a narcotics detective and also served in the Army Reserves for 8 years.

Brian Worley and his wife, Danielle, recently traveled to Las Vegas to renew their vows and celebrate their 10 year anniversary. The couple have 2 children in their mid- 20’s.

All of us at Timothy O'Toole's want to send a sincere thank you to all of the guests of the outing, friends, and family members who have donated to this humble man and loving family.

This extravagant beer tour begins in Chico, CA where the brewery first took root in 1980- and ends in Mills River, NC for the grand opening of its East Coast brewery.

But what we Chicagoans are really concerned with is the event on July 27th. This Sunday, doors open at noon at Navy Pier for our chance to taste (unlimited) samples of various craft brews from nearly 110 different breweries across the US.

Sierra Nevada has masterfully created a Beer Camp Across America collaborative 12-pack with 12 different beers made alongside 12 different breweries- Allagash, Ballast Point, Bell's, Cigar City, Firestone Walker, New Glarus, Ninkasi, Oskar Blues, Russian River, Victory, 3 Floyds and Ashville Brewers Alliance. This 12 pack is a mix of 10 bottled and 2 canned beers!

This Sunday, we all come together to celebrate the beverage we know and love for this truly remarkable occasion.

The first "Chicken Crawl" by Chicago Chicken Crawl takes place this Saturday May 3rd.

"Once upon a time there was a woman turning 37. She wanted to do something awesome for her Birthday when the idea was thrown in her lap! A FB friend had mentioned that there should be a chicken crawl for people that LOVE the bird! The light bulb went off and the woman decided that she would build it AND her friends would come!

The trolley was rented, the restaurants selected and contacted, the shirts created, the shenanigans shall ensue and the wings shall be devoured ....."

Who would have thought there were so many other uses for beer besides drinking it! Read below to discover 5 trendy uses for O’Toole’s beverage of choice…BEER

1)      Want to turn tired soles to frisky toes? The enzymes in beer soften callused feet! Room temperature beer and peppermint tea combined create a soothing soak for your barking dogs.

2)      Have a girl who likes DIY projects? Save your old bottles and have her make you a beer chandelier- how awesome would that look in the man cave?1701C4d935306983d3db693fdf083aa0

3)      Summers coming up… or it should be but Chicago weather makes us no promises. Regardless, it’s going to be time to get your grill on. Make a great meat tenderizer out of a “middle- of- the- road” flavor profile beer. Maybe an amber ale? Add your favorite spices to the marinade, put that puppy in a zip lock plastic bag, shake and let sit for 15 minutes to 1 hour and your all set.Beer Grill Marinade Beef Fajitas Us4x

4)      Condition your hair in a beer that has lost all of its carbonation.

Shower Beer

5)      Did your GF spill her red wine on your carpet as her and her friends got rowdy playing Bunko? No Worries, pour a little of your light beer over the spill to pull the stain out, then use a regular carpet cleaner to lift out the liquid and the smell.

We are very excited for Uday, "Our Favorite Person of the Month", because he is currently in the final 4 for the Timothy O'Toole's Regular's Bracket. Way to go! 76388 10200340791507423 1443716542 N

We here at O'Toole's love Tuesdays. Do you want to know why we love Tuesdays? It's because Uday is a part of Pool League and Pool League plays every Tuesday night! We want to bet Uday he won't sing at karaoke this Tuesday (4/8/14)... Hmm...but maybe he will if we can get enough Blue Moons in his system (his beer of choice). So come on down to O'Toole's every Tuesday in April to congratulate "Our Favorite Person of the Month", Uday.

Yesterday was a great day to be a “Reg” at Timothy O’Toole’s, as we went down in craft beer history. The first KBS 2014 (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) keg in Chicago was officially tapped at 5:00 pm by none other than the Founder and CEO of Founders Brewing Co. himself, Michael Stevens. As awe inspired patrons stood, in what seemed to be wonder and amazement, the much anticipated KBS was finally flowing.

And a glorious sight it was...

1970701 10151966565165919 2017127554 N

Good form, Stevens, good form.

We enjoyed Stevens’ remarks on all things KBS, but we liked drinking it with him even more.

1621737 10151966565190919 1481602372 N

One event attendee switched his flight to make that Tuesday afternoon one he will remember for the rest of his life… The first time KBS touched his lips.
When asked why he made such a heroic move, he answered, “Everyone talks about this beer, and I have never gotten to try it. I was late to a launch party in the past and the KBS was emptied out, I had no choice but to make it this time.”

Needless to say, the beer was a major hit. So much, that Timothy O’Toole’s was “trending” on the popular social networking site aimed at crafted beer enjoyment, “Untappd”.10150535 10151966565085919 692555096 N

...Purple for justice, gold for power, and green for faith- Glass beads were tossed to the person who exhibited the color’s meaning…

We’ve come a long way ‘Merica.
